The single worst part of chronic illness? It’s not the illness. Truly; illness can be learned and accepted and coped with. It may involve pain, fatigue and increasing amounts of bitterness, but these things are like furniture in the House of You*. Sometimes you get stuck with an ugly lamp and you never get rid of it. Was writing merely an unfortunate side-effect of young age? Because I used to have a lot of it going on, you know, the way other kids had acne and alcohol poisonings. Then, like most other kids, I apparently got over it. Was it a permanent recovery? How likely is a relapse?
I ask because I may be interested in experimenting with it again - I may - but I fear it would require me to re-acquaint...

I like the branded, identical city places. I like Starbucks, I like the multiplying steakhouses, I like IKEA. I will choose to take a seat at Starbucks or the closest equivalent available to me because it offers a sense of familiarity without being uncomfortably intimate. I will endlessly appreciate how the employees do not greet me as I enter just because I’ve been there a handful of times...

Yeah, remember that beautiful review some serious newspaper lady spouted about GRRM’s A song of ice and fire? Possibly it was about the tv series, specifically. Anyway. The verdict was that this was a boy’s fantasy with maybe some nipples thrown in to please the female audience.

I notice the kindle’s battery time being advertised based on “30 minutes of daily reading” and burst into alienated giggles because jesus christ is 30 minutes the average for reading people I thought the 3-4 hours was the norm
